Many years ago, in a blog about TA script I read an intriguing –yet at that point in time, not really resonating with me- thought on workshops aiming at ‘liberating’ people from their blocking beliefs and unwanted urges. I cannot remember the exact words the blogger used but it came down to this: ‘Getting rid of blocking beliefs is all about developing EQ. People who are emotionally intelligent are ok with themselves, need no comparison to others to feel their personal value and therefore are non competitive.’
I have always thought that mindfulness was a form of meditation very often accompanied by new age music and incense. (I know this is a bit of a caricatured way of seeing it but it was what I believed.) This put it for me in the niche of alternative tools that the average company would not spend money on. What the heck, that ‘I’ would not spend money on.
I promised to keep you updated on the things I was learning on my annual learning sabbatical for 2016. Well, day 1 is barely over and I am already connecting dots between what my brain already knows and some new insights.
